Dyslexia Support
Dyslexia Support Program
The dyslexia program uses the Take Flight curriculum. Take Flight is designed specifically for individuals who have a language-based learning difference (dyslexia), the 10 – 15% of the population who may be unable to remember two-dimensional symbols, letters, or words easily. These individuals require intervention that utilizes special methods and materials.
Take Flight is a comprehensive, ungraded, structured, and sequential curriculum that utilizes multisensory techniques for basic instruction in reading, writing, and spelling. Task analysis was used to organize and sequence the following:
- Phonic regularities for reading
- Rules for syllable division
- Spelling
- Other basic linguistic concepts

Mrs. Alyson Zembower
My name is Alyson Zembower, and I have been teaching at Skaggs since 2002. I began my career teaching kindergarten for 6 years, spent 8 years teaching 2nd grade, and I taught 4th grade for 5 years. In 2021, I became the dyslexia therapist. I realized my passion for teaching students with dyslexia after discovering both my daughters have it.
I was born and raised in Plano and graduated from Plano Senior High School! I studied education at Texas Tech University, and in 2019, I went back to school and earned my Masters in Education. In 2024, I earned my Certified Academic Language Therapist certification.
I have two beautiful daughters, a supportive husband, and an active Shih Tzu who all keep me busy! I am excited to be a part of your child's educational journey.
